  • The Man at the Counter

I was just at Ralph's for lunch. I usually get a salad (primal diet!) or a protein bar, but occasionally I get some meatballs or chicken wings from the deli near the salad bar. Today I got both.

The problem with the deli is usually the wait. Even though there are roughly eight people behind the bar, seven of them usually seem to be doing something else, tidying or cleaning or organizing or stewing, anything but serving the customer.

Anyway, today I was waiting patiently as a kindly old man freshened up the chicken wings and meatballs at the counter. This excited me, as I rarely get the freshly made ones, so I was willing to wait. I ask the man for some meatballs. He put the meatballs in container, weighed it, priced it, then put another couple meatballs and some sauce in. How kind!

But the real kicker was the wings. I asked for five wings. The man combed through the batch of chicken wings, picking and choosing, looking at each one. I wasn't sure what he was looking for, I can't tell the difference between one wing or the other, nor do I care, but it warmed me to see this man taking his time to make sure I had the best of what I was getting.

I guess I don't mind the wait at the deli counter anymore.

  • While we're talking about health

Off I go to the stairs today! 192 steps going up and coincidentally the same number going down, and I'm going to climb them all 5 times!

Or so I believe, the most I've ever done is 4 times, and I haven't tried the stairs in about 2 weeks, so who knows if I'll have laxed a bit, or if my recent sprinting and weight loss means the stairs will actually be easier. Regardless, I can't wait to bust my buns!

Shoot, I'm out of time! Here's my health links in brief!

    1) damage control master formula - a great multivitamin
    2) The vitamin shop - buy some stuff!
    3) Caveman diet - better than weight watchers!

  • SuperFast Post (Rich with Omegas)

I have a friend who blogs incredibly fast. She says she blogs every day, it doesn't matter what she's blogging about, so long as she's done blogging in three minutes. Three minutes! That's some fast writing. She says its an exercise in discipline, and its a way for her to learn how to form thoughts on the page without all the unnessacary internal editing that goes on before writing, which often ruins whatever you were trying to originally say.

Well, if you haven't guessed already, I'm trying her method out for just this one post. It's sort of fun, as I keep glancing at the clock, almost like a typing test (yes, I enjoy typing tests!).

So anyway, onto the real subject: House Plants.

I'm on the fence when it comes to houseplants. I like plants, I think they brighten up a room, obviously they add life, and color, and make the surroundings more natural. But on the other hand, I feel the joy of houseplants is one of those things that makes the a domestic out of a housewife, and I'm just not sure I'm ready to be "domesticized" or whatever its called when you care more about casseroles and tea on Saturdays than playing tag football, hiking with college friends, and going to indy concerts and dressing up to be wild and crazy.

They say kids make the domesticity happen, but I worry its houseplants. Maybe I'll just buy a bunch of cacti.

Alright, three minutes up. Time for me to mention my weblinks and go. First web link is all about washboard abs. Next web link talks about the omegas (vitamins, not end of days). And the final weblink is an extensnion of the omegas as omega 3 vitamins.

  • Data Entry Sucks!

Gah! My husband wasn't making enough money so I took up a job doing data entry for a law firm...

    It sucks!

Just typing in numbers and data all day, eight hours of typing, with small breaks. The level of human interaction at the law firm is pretty much nil, as our head lawyer is currently away solving some corporate legal issue. I'm not even entirely sure what it is I'm entering as far as data goes.

Anyway, back to the data entry. Just a quick post to mention a few websites I stumbled across...

How to deal with stress and vitamin information are two of the best vitamin websites I've been able to find. I also found this fitness post about abs on a high fat diet. Definitely worth checking out.

  • William Shatner is Goofy

The more I see of William Shatner, the goofier he gets. Of course, the Star Trek movies always struck me as a bit odd, but my boyfriend liked them, so I held my tongue.

Then I heard William Shatner sing. He doesn't really sing as much as talk rhythmically over music, but it was absolutely hilarious. One of my favorite Shatner songs is "Live Life." Provided are the silly lyrics:
    Live life
    Like you're gonna die.
    Because you're gonna.

Then he appeared in those priceline.com commercials which are equally as silly.

And finally, he does the voiceover for a World of Warcraft promo, which just went a bit too far for my taste.

I dub you goofy Mr. Shatner. Grade A goofy.

Also, if you happen to find someone on orthorexia, tell me! I'm doing a report for a night course right now, and I'm looking for orthorexics.
